2022 cohort finish their first year of social work training

Congratulations to our 2022 cohort for completing their first year of our mental health social work programme.

From music teachers to journalists our 2022 trainees came from a broad range of backgrounds and started their social work journey in July 2022 with a five-week summer institute.

Over the past year they have studied for a postgraduate diploma in social work with Middlesex University, our academic partner, whilst completing placements in NHS Trusts and Local Authorities across England.

Reflecting on the first year of the programme they said:

  • “I have found Year One a fantastic learning curve. I have developed not only as a practitioner but as a person too.” – Shelly, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust
  • “Being supported by fellow students (now treasured friends) has been so important for my learning and growth.” – Nic, Bradford Metropolitan District Council
  • “My skillset has rocketed thanks to the guidance of the programme and my fantastic colleagues and practice educator.” – Michaela, Lancashire County Council
  • “By far the things that carried me through the difficult times (juggling life, essays and work) were the friendships that I developed with others in my cohort and team.” – Charlotte, Bradford Metropolitan District Council

Moving into Year Two of the programme as newly qualified social workers, they will complete their Assessed and Supported Year of Employment (ASYE) and work towards a master’s degree in social work.

We look forward to seeing our 2022 Cohort develop their skills and knowledge and become an important part of the mental health workforce.
