Do something that matters: Train with us

Times are tough for us all right now, especially for those of us living with mental health problems.

Now is the time to choose a career that changes lives.

With the right support, from the right person, anyone with a mental health problem can thrive.

And you could be that person – giving that support. Support for the things that matter most to us all: housing, family, employment, relationships, and community.

Apply to our programme today

Applications for our 2023 training programme are now open.  Training to become a mental health social worker with us you will:

  • Be paid to train on the job, working alongside mental health professionals in NHS Mental Health Trusts and Local Authorities.
  • Empower people living with mental health problems to thrive, working on life issues together like relationships, living arrangements, and employment – all of which can have profound effects on mental wellbeing.
  • Gain two qualifications: qualifying as a social worker and gaining a master’s degree from Middlesex University. All fully paid.
  • Join one of the Times Top 100 Graduate Employers.

The first stage of our application is completing this registration form.

You can find out more about mental health social work here and how the programme works here.

Improving representation

We strive to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout all our work and believe the mental health workforce should represent the people it supports.

We encourage applications from people from diverse backgrounds and underrepresented groups including people from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse communities, disabled people, men and those who identify as being part of the LGBT+ community.

Webinars and application support

We’re running a series of webinars about our programme and mental health social work.  These hour-long interactive sessions will give you all the information you need to apply.

Ask any questions you may have and hear from trainees of the programme, experienced social workers, and people who’ve been supported by them.

Book now and find the full schedule here.

Additionally, our website has lots of resources and guidance to support you – especially in the  ‘applying‘ page.

Apply early to avoid disappointment

We advise you apply early to give yourself the best chance of securing a place on this programme.

We partner with NHS trusts and local authorities across England to provide our training placements. These are filled on a rolling basis and your chance of success relies on you passing the application process, but also there being a placement location suitable for you.

Some areas are more popular and fill more quickly than others, so we would encourage you to apply as early as you can.

Good luck!
