Our submission to the major conditions strategy: call for evidence

In May 2023, the Department of Health and Social Care launched an open consultation to gather evidence and expertise on how to prevent, diagnose, treat and manage the six major groups of health conditions – including mental health – that most affect the population in England.

We recruit, train, and develop the mental health workforce to provide the most effective support for people with mental health problems. And, we know that to help people with mental health problems flourish, the workforce who support them must also be flourishing.

We responded to the questions that we felt, as a workforce charity, we were best placed to answer:

1. How we can better support those with mental ill health?
2. How can we better enable health and social care teams to deliver person-centred and joined-up services?
3. How can we make better use of research, data and digital technologies to improve outcomes for people with, or at risk of developing, the major conditions?
