Responding to ADASS Spring Survey

We will not fix healthcare unless we fix social care too.

The results from Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) Spring Survey shows how investment in social care is needed now more than ever.

Shift to community

With the lowest percent of the adult social care budget being spent on prevention since 2021/22, local authorities can not focus on prevention and the community-focused care that the government want to shift to.

Social care does not exist in a vacuum – it is intrinsically linked with physical and mental health care.

Many people with mental health needs will have contact with social care at some point in their life.

Health and social care workforce

We welcome ADASS’s recommendation of a clear and fully funded workforce plan inclusive of social workers.

Social workers can bridge the gap between health and care services, connecting people with the support they best need.

The government must recognise the value of social care and invest significantly in both the health and social care workforce.
