Responding to 24/7 Neighbourhood Mental Health Centre

Mental health is not just a health issue, but a social one.

That’s why we welcome the opening of the first 24/7 Neighbourhood Mental Health Centre, with five more to follow this year.

Social approach to mental health

We’re pleased that the centres will offer community-focused support to people with mental health needs, including advice on employment and housing.

We have always advocated for a social approach to mental health – social issues like housing, relationships and employment can affect everyone’s mental health and mental health support must reflect this.

Importance of partnership working

The success of these centres depends not only on a dedicated mental health workforce but also the invaluable contributions of voluntary and community organisations.

Partnership working across sectors is crucial to ensure everyone with mental health needs get the right support for them, and we’re glad to see the vital role of voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations being recognised.
