“Social work is the missing piece of the mental health puzzle” – Co-Chief Executive interviewed by Professional Social Work magazine

Think Ahead’s Co-Chief Executive Natalie Acton has been interviewed by Professional Social Work, a magazine published by the British Association of Social Workers (BASW).

Natalie highlighted the importance of achieving greater recognition of the value social work can bring to mental health.

She said that while attempts to tackle the UK’s mental health challenge have primarily focused on medication and talking therapies, people’s social circumstances are frequently neglected.

“We want to promote social approaches in mental health because we think social work is the missing piece of the puzzle,” Natalie told the magazine.

Think Ahead works in partnership with mental health services to strengthen the contribution of social workers.

“One of the things we are trying to do as an organisation is to raise the profile of mental health social work so more people can understand the improvements it can bring”, Natalie said.
