University of York announced as Think Ahead’s academic partner

The University of York will co-design and deliver the academic elements of Think Ahead’s programme, it was announced today. Working collaboratively with experts in mental health and social work, and with input from experts at the University of Central Lancashire, the leading Russell Group university will team up with Think Ahead to develop an innovative curriculum, tailor-made for aspirational graduates.

Grounded in the latest evidence-based research and international best practice, the curriculum will place on-the-job learning at its heart, with academics visiting participants to support and assess them in practice settings. These leading academics will deliver teaching both at the Summer Institute, and at the 38 teaching days which take place throughout Year One and Year Two of the programme.

Both the postgraduate diploma (following completion of Year One) and the master’s degree in Year Two will be awarded by the University of York.

Professor Martin Webber, the University of York’s lead academic on Think Ahead, said:

“I am delighted that the University of York will be partnering with Think Ahead to develop highly talented people into expert mental health social workers.

“We will provide participants with cutting-edge knowledge and skills, drawing on the best evidence from around the world, to equip them to hit the ground running and make an immediate difference.”
