Let’s talk: why ethnic diversity is important in mental health social work

People from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse backgrounds statistically have worse mental health outcomes, due to the discrimination they face from healthcare professionals, or cultural stigma around mental health. Black, Asian and ethnically diverse communities also remain underrepresented in the social work workforce.

Learn how you could pursue a career in social work and advocate to improve outcomes for underrepresented communities in the UK. You will hear from a panel of past trainees, experienced social workers and people who have used mental health services.

The session will explore the need for a more diverse workforce in social work and you how can make a difference to your communities.
