Our submission to the Department of Health and Social Care mental health and wellbeing consultation

In April 2022, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) launched an open consultation to gather evidence and expertise from individuals and organisations to inform the government’s new 10-year mental health and wellbeing plan.

At Think Ahead, we recruit, train, and develop the mental health workforce to provide the most effective support for people with mental health problems. We know that to help people with mental health problems flourish, the workforce who support them must also be flourishing.

Our close relationship with new mental health social workers and their employers, alongside our wider work in the sector, gives us extensive insight into the urgent challenges facing the workforce, and the impact these challenges have on service delivery.

We pulled together our submission to the consultation by interviewing and surveying mental health practitioners, including our newly qualified mental health social workers, and people with lived experience of mental health services.

Please find our full submission to the consultation here.
